Being Savvy: Activities, things to do with your preschoolers, toddlers and kids in New Orleans, LA

An Introduction

I'm very excited to be writing for Savvy Source as I now get to combine the things that take up nearly all of my brain; small children and New Orleans. I moved to New Orleans eight years ago with my husband. Our first child, Adelaide, was born in August of 2005 and our second child, Marguerite, was born in September of 2007.

I stay at home with both girls and am looking forward to preschool this fall (more on that later, I'm sure). I do some freelance writing and a slew of other projects on the side.

Because I live Uptown, I don't know of all of the kid-friendly venues across the entire city. I try to be inclusive but I welcome you to send in your favorite spots as it's possible that I have missed them.

I remember something that Chef Donald Link said during his appearance on No Reservations about the real heroes of this city being those who have chosen to stay and raise their families in New Orleans. I think that we all need to be reminded of that frequently as it is often easy to get bogged down in what isn't working here and forget all of the wonderful things that this city has to offer our kids.

Consider me your source for fun and a gentle reminder that you are a fabulous parent for giving your children experiences unparalleled anywhere else in the world.
