Best Bet: Great Balls of Fire

July 02, 2009

If your child is afraid of loud noises, I feel for you this weekend, I really do. The biggest thing going on this weekend is without a doubt, Go 4th on the River. The "Dueling Barges" have earned fifth place in the nation's "must see" fireworks extravaganzas. That says a lot for our little town.

Most of the events and free music take place down by the French Market and the Riverwalk but for a more local experience, grab a picnic dinner and head up to the Fly to catch the show.

Then again, if you want to treat yourself, book a spot for the family on the Steamboat Natchez ($65 for adults; $30 for children ages 6-12, and $15 for children 2-5) the price includes includes a "picnic style dinner" of ribs, chicken, and various salads and slaws. There is also a Kids Korner with hot dogs and hamburgers.

Don't forget, the Feret Market is this Saturday as well in case you are looking for something during daylight hours.

Have fun! Be safe and Happy 4th!

If your preschooler has an aversion to loud noises and you are concerned  Read more...

July 03, 2008

It's another big weekend coming up in Crescent City and you and your little ones can spend it watching fireworks on the river. New Orleans' fireworks rank 5th in American Pyrotechnic Association's "must see" firework events (that's even higher than Washington D.C.!). Celebrations are running all through the day tomorrow (the Friday, the 4th). Depending on how much stamina your child has and  Read more...
